Photos of my Personal Valentino Collection

I have discussed with a few of you about posting photos of my collection along with some of yours as well. I decided to post a few photos of my collection, some of the photos may appear grainy, I took them with my iphone; furthermore, this room has poor lighting...no windows. You have all seen almost all of these items here on the blog individually, it appears a bit different all grouped together in a room. Now you can finally see what I mean by lack of wall space, especially my sheet music wall. I love the look on people's faces when the first walk into my room and are unaware of my small addiction. They look around with their mouth open, while saying Rudolph Valentino?? That is when I say, I could try to explain it, but, most likely you would not understand, lets just say, I am a fan! At least now I will be sharing a glimpse into my room with people who get it!

  1. Outstanding. The only question is where are you going to put the next 15 years worth of treasures? From somebody who "gets it", thanks for sharing.

  3. What is that trophy in the middle?

  4. This is the 1926 Golf Trophy, Valentino presented to the winner of a golf tournament. I posted this back in April of last year. It is really a cool piece. I would love to find a photo of Valentino presenting the trophy, there has to be one out there somewhere!

  6. As a collector I know the thrill of finding a Valentino momento must be wonderful. Ebay has alot of crap on it these days. But, my question to you is what places can one go particularly on line to possibly find Valentino memorabilia?

  7. I feel like I should be playing dramatic music while I read this post! impressive, now can I be included in the will for these items ?

  8. I definitely agree with Chris. There have been very few interesting items on ebay of late. Do you think this is because everything worth having is already in the hands of collectors? Do we have to wait for somebody to die?

  9. I am unsure if I can pick a favorite item, I would say my autographed photo, The Son of the Sheik poster, Sainted Devil Lobby Card, Estate Catalog, and various books. It is too difficult to choose just one!

In response to the question from Chris, ebay is still the best place to find Valentino items, even though you have to sort through the handmade earrings and the occasional trucker hats. I have been able to find a few books on Amazon from time to time. But persistence with ebay is the best route, it tends to be feast or famine.

Lindsay, I will have to pencil you in the will hahaha, although I do plan on taking some of it with me hahaha.

To add to Ana's comments: most of the unusual or more sought after items that show up on ebay, I feel for the most part, are sold by non-Valentino collectors. Often people who are unable of the value of what they have. I am sure there are things sitting around the attic or basement that people are unaware of what they have. And, yes most of the collectors have bought up what they can, but, it is always amazing what it is out there. It seems some people wait for the holidays to list some of the more unique items as well.

  10. I have noticed that as well. A lot of the sellers know next to nothing about Valentino and you see a lot of mislabeling. As far as valuing their items, it goes both ways but mostly they grossly over-estimate the value of some of the stuff it seems.
This is definitely a hobby that requires patience.

  11. Great points Ana, did you see that magazine which has been re-listed for $500!! I would guess it is a $30-$75 magazine. Also, what about the Alberto signed photo for $7,500. I will say one thing that I have learned over the years with all collectible items, something is valued what someone else will pay for it. Many times people overpay for some things. So, I do understand why people try to ask way too much for some things; however, you have to be reasonable!

  12. Absolutely. If a collector really wants the item and has the money they will pay up, however you might have to wait a long time to find the right buyer.
I saw that magazine too. It's from Chile or somewhere in S. America, right? It's not even colorful. As for the Alberto inscribed photo...REALLY?? It's tough to get that much for a Rudy autograph. It's a cool item for the Valentino collector who has everything or if you could get it for a steal but not for $7500. I love how sellers try to cash in on any Valentino connection no matter how remote like the autographed photo of June Mathis' husband, Sylvano Balboni. Funny.

  14. True some of the more collectable items on Ebay are going for 10 times more than there value. People these days are just not going to pay it...Like the auction that contains props from Blood & Sand? Has a fan and something else that auction has been ongoing for along time I have seen it listed for as low as 6000 and now they want 25,000. for it...Thank you for taking the time to reply...

  15. Well, even though for the most part I do not list prices with the blog posts, we can all help to educate each other, so that we are not rippped off by people who attempt to get 10 times what something is worth!

  16. How much is a catalog worth from his estate.sale 734 652-0785

  17. Depending on the condition, they can range from a few hundred up to $1500. They are not common and were very limited when printed. My understanding is only 150 or so were printed.
