Sorry for the hiatus. Life seems to be busy as ever. I hope everyone had a great Holiday and a wonderful New Year. Hopefully, your friends or family were able to find you a few Valentino items for the Holidays that were not previously a part of your collection. I was fortunate enough to receive a bevy of overseas items, which I will post soon. One of my favorites was an over-sized piece of French sheet music from Monsieur Beaucaire, I had never seen the piece before now, it is fantastic! I hope all of you have a wonderful New Year. The below photo is a great candid of Valentino with Consuelo Flowerton, she co-starred with Valentino in the 1921 film, Camille. More to come....

Five Photos from the film Camille
These are five photos from the 1921 film, "Camille." This was the 4th of 5 movies Valentino would star in, in 1921. His next picture was The Sheik, which launched him into overnight stardom. Valentino actually did not receive top billing for this film, Alla Nazimova did. She was actually a bigger star at the time; furthermore, her production company produced the film. The sets for the film were designed by Natacha Rambova, hence their meeting, later marriage and divorce. I am not a huge fan of Natacha; however, I have to give her credit for her art deco designs on this film, they really are fantastic.
Overall, in my opinion, where Valentino fans are concerned, not his best film; however, I still found it very entertaining. I enjoyed the flashback scene where they are dressed in period clothing. It is fantastic this film is still in existence.

Glass Slide from Camille
This is a Glass Slide from the 1921 film, "Camille." Notice the top billing for Nazimova. This film was released in between The Four Horsemen and The Sheik. The Sheik was Valentino's next film, which really propelled his stardom. These Glass Slides are fantastic collectibles and tend to be fairly valuable in good condition.

Title and Lobby Cards from Camille
The first card is the title card from Camille. Traditionally there are 8 lobby cards in a set; each set has a title card which is similar to the movie poster, where it features the title and the stars of the film. The remaining cards feature the other stars and scenes from the film. Camille was another June Mathis film, that featured Nazimova. The film silently co-starred Valentino as can be seen from this title card. The studio wanted to feature Nazimova along with giving some exposure to their up and coming star, Valentino, which most likely Mathis has something to do with. This particular card, which does not feature Valentino is not as valuable to a Valentino collector as it would be to a Nazimova collector. In this case, for Valentino collectors, the second card would be more desirable. There is not a great deal of Valentino-Camille items out there, due to the top-billing of Nazimova. The items out there are fairly sought after and fairly valuable.

Lobby Card from the film, Camille
This is a lobby card from the 1921 film, "Camille." This was the fourth of five films Valentino made in 1921. This film was released right before The Sheik. Alla Nazimova, a popular Russian silent star, was given top billing for the film. The set designer for the film was Natacha Rambova, this is where they met for the first time.
The lobby card, as all other cards from Valentino's films is valuable and highly sought after. This particular card lacks the vibrant colors that other films offer; however, it is still a wonderful lobby card. There are not a great deal of items out there from Camille.

Photos from the film, Camille
These are five photos from the film, "Camille." Released in 1921, this was one of five films Valentino starred in this year. This film co-starred Alla Nazimova, a Russian actress who was quite popular at the time. The set for this film was designed by Natacha Rambova, her and Valentino met on the set, two years later they were married. This film is not one of my favorites; however, I do enjoy the art-deco set designs Natacha created for the film.
