The Sheik Promotional Card / Postcard

This is one of the reasons I really enjoy working on the blog. I get to meet and correspond with many of you and sometimes many of you will send me photos of some of your Rudy treasures. Often, these treasures I have never seen or come across before now. Dee has sent me a very unique item, which I call random items, it is a handout for the 1921 film, The Sheik. It is a colorized postcard sized promotional card from Australia, from the Globe Theater. The card itself is scented with Indasia, which was some sort of fragrance. There is a lot of cross promotions going on here: Valentino, The Sheik, Indasia, and the Globe Theater, not bad, actually pretty smart. Anyway, who know how many of these were produced, I think it is a great item, it has a lot going for it, it is colorized and scented! It is definitely another one of those must have items for the collection. Great find and thanks for sharing Dee!

Monsieur Beaucaire Movie Theater Handout

This is a rare movie theater from Paraguay. The handout depicts Valentino from the 1924 film, Monsieur Beaucaire. Not one of Valentino's most popular films, this was his first film back after we walked out on his contract. He and Natacha, mainly Natacha wanted more artistic integrity in the films he made. In the case of Beaucaire led to overpriced costumes and set designs, along with a film that his base fans just did not get.

This is not a common piece, this is the first item I have seen from Paraguay. It is not worth hundreds of dollars, but would be sought after for collectors like myself because of the uniqueness of the item.

1926 Son of the Sheik Movie Program

This is a hard to find Son of the Sheik movie program / theater handout. The program states the film with show on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, September 3-5. This is only a couple of weeks after Valentino's death in 1926. This is not a common program to find.

1925 Rudolph Valentino Theatre Handout Photo

This is a theatre handout from 1925. It depicts a color drawing of Valentino in a v-neck sweater with a bow tie. On the back of this handout are advertisements for a few upcoming movies. The comical fact is that none of the advertised movies are Valentino films. This is simply advertising with Valentino's face on it so that people picked it up and looked at it. These handouts are difficult to come across.

This is a Movie Handout from the film, "Blood and Sand," from 1922. This handout depicts Lila Lee and Valentino. Notice the photo of Valentino is not from the film, it is a studio portrait photo.
