Lobby Card from Blood and Sand

This is one of my favorite lobby cards from Blood and Sand. It is a very colorful card that features Valentino and co-star Nita Naldi. The card depicts one of my favorite scenes from the film where she seduces him by playing the harp. Many of the desirable lobby cards seem to be more scarce. Most are already in collections out there, that is, for the ones that have survived over the past 90 years, which is how old this film is. Lobby cards such as this can be quite valuable, even though they are a fraction of the cost of an original poster which can easily bring five figures.

  1. Quite colourful!

PS did you see The Artist ? I loved it. I think it had elements of all the greats of the silent film. Plus they even did an reactment of Thief of Baghdad.

  2. I really want to see it, I have not had the chance to yet. No Rudy references in the film? I am looking forward to checking it out!

    1. No Rudy references, but it's divine. I love that a silent film has garnered this much acclaim. Six Golden Globe and ten Oscar nods? Wow! It succeeds without compromising any of the pacing and charm of a classic/silent film. In other words, it doesn't try to be "modern" to appeal to the masses. It's true to the tradition it pays homage to and that's why I love it. Not to mention that it just might make people give vintage silents a chance. One can hope anyway. Oh, and I have to say it, that Jean Dujardin slays me with that heart-stopping crooked smile of his...mon Dieu!

    2. How are you by the way? Sorry I posted my comment twice. Duh. Make it go away please.

  3. I think it was more or less based off of John Gilbert. The setting was past Rudy's passing. I think they did a wonderful job of recreating the silent movie actor. I think the title character's name 'George Valentin' was not a mistake.

  4. It sounds like a great movie, can't wait to see it. I have been pretty good, I have actually picked up quite a few Rudy items over the post month. A few lobby cards, a couple of re-issue posters and a few small collectible items that I will post soon. How is everything with both of you? Any new items for the collections?

When you say John Gilbert that makes sense, I can see that.
