Rare Cobra Movie Poster

This is a fantastic movie poster from the film, "Cobra." I looked up the dates and days of the week, this is an original release poster from 1925. Cobra is my favorite Valentino film, I would absolutely love to have this. I have never seen this poster before now. Note the photo of Valentino on the poster in a bow tie, a likeness not from the film. This was a way for the studio to market a film with Valentino where he was not in costume, just the great lover as an Italian playboy. This is a absolute fantastic poster, this is one I will definitely be looking for, the biggest problem is trying to afford it, if I ever find it!

  2. Well, Happy early Birthday! My guess is with movie theaters in the 20's especially in the smaller markets, they only had one theater and most movies appeared for a week or so, before moving on to the next theater. I am not a film historian, it would be interesting to know for sure.

  3. Thanks!

I think most theatres from that time were 1 screen theatres.

My hometown had a 1 screen theatre before closing interesting to note they sold an original 'gone with wind' poster for $10 000

  4. Wow! That is awesome! It is amazing what some movie memorabilia is worth today, considering back then most people did not are anything about it.

  5. True Brad, well Nova Scotia is very much in touch with it's past, there was a bunch of other movie items such as an old projector, Marilyn Monroe cut out, I can't recall the actual movies as I was only a kid, I didn't have the same interest in it then as I do now.

  7. I know, old theatres are becoming more and more obscure.

I know of only 1, the fox theatre that was built during the silent movie theatre, it is still showing movies :)

  8. What a coincidence, we have an old Fox theater here in St. Louis as well. It was built in the 20's and was a movie theater for years, not they mostly house concerts. I believe there is a silent movie theater in LA somewhere as well.
