Sheet Music from The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse

This is Sheet Music entitled "In Old Manila." This is from the film, The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. This sheet music was most likely produced well after the film, since Valentino was virtually an unknown when the film was released. Even so this is not a common piece of sheet music.

  1. The sheet music I've come across seems pretty reasonably priced. Is this generally so? I love ephemera, but so much of it is costly, like lobby cards and posters. Luckily, there's stuff like ads and magazines that are much more attainable. I really like vintage ads.

  2. Most of the sheet music is reasonably priced. Some of the overseas variations can sell for more, there are some rare pieces of sheet music that sell for quite a bit more money. Overall, you can purchase most of this sheet music for $10 to $25 a piece.

The lobby cards and poster are quite expensive, some of the posters have sold in upwards of $10,000. As far as the lobby cards, they sell for a few hundred to a couple of thousand. I do not own any original posters, I have a re-issue poster from 1947 from The Son of the Sheik, which is one of my favorite items. As far as lobby cards, I have been pretty lucky obtaining some of those, I have about 8-10 lobby cards. The re-issue lobby cards from the 30's are much more reasonable to obtain. You may know these fact but the title cards are the most valuable along with cards that feature Valentino in a scene from the film, some cards do not feature Valentino in the scene, these are "Dead Lobby Cards." They are substantially less valuable, I have one of those as well.

You are correct, the magazine ads are very artistic and very reasonable to obtain.

  3. Actually, I know next to nothing about collecting, so I can't thank you enough for answering my questions. I know about Valentino's movies. Co-stars, directors, release dates, etc. and also lots of bits of personal stuff from books I've read. I must be driving you crazy. Sorry.

  4. No, not at all, I enjoy helping others out with Valentino information as well as the collectibles. That is the main purpose for this blog, I hated trying to find collectibles when I first started, I had no idea what I was looking for. When I found something I had no idea what to pay for it or what it was worth.
