This is another great example of a newspaper ad from May of 1922. Surprisingly, many of these ads are still around today, there are literally thousands of variations of these movie ads for Valentino's movies. This one depicts Valentino with Gloria Swanson, another great piece.

Blood and Sand Newspaper Advertisement
This is another great example of an original newspaper ad from the 1922 classic, Blood and Sand. As with most of these ads, it depicts slightly different art from most of the posters, lobby cards and various promotional material. As I've said before, these are great to collect. They are easy to frame or put in a scrapbook and they are reasonably priced. Finally, I like this ad because it actually depicts Lila Lee and Nita Naldi together. Most ads only depict one.

Movie Ad for Beyond the Rocks
This is a great newspaper advertisement for the 1922 film, Beyond the Rocks, starring Gloria Swanson, and of course Valentino. Many of these ads were found in newspapers and magazines. As I have stated in previous posts, these are fantastic collectibles, they are reasonably priced and often depict unique artwork from the film. This is another great example of one of those ads.

The Eagle Newspaper Advertisement
The is a newspaper ad from the film, The Eagle from 1925. This ad is actually not from 1925, most likely from the 1930's re-release. Many of these newspaper ads are more common than you think. These are not very valuable, just great pieces to add to the collection.

The Young Rajah Newspaper Advertisement
This is a newspaper advertisement for the 1922 film, "The Young Rajah." This is an unusual ad for the film, that is not seen too often. As I have said time and time again, newspaper ads are not too difficult to find and are very reasonable. They look great in a scrapbook or in a framed collage. This ad lists the movie ticket prices, which are a few dollars less than today's prices, 35 cents for adults, or 25 cents for the matinee. 15 cents for kids, or 10 cents for kids for the matinee. To put that in perspective a loaf of bread during this time was about 12 cents a loaf, a gallon of gas was about 25 cents. I digress, from the interesting economic facts. This is a great example of a movie ad with artwork different from most of the promotional posters and lobby cards.

1921 Newspaper Advertisement for The Sheik
This is an original 1921 Newspaper Advertisement for the film, "The Sheik." Above the movie art it states The Milwaukee Journal, November 29, 1921. This verifies the fact it is from 1921 and not a re-release. These are great collectibles, just don't expect to rich off of these.

A Society Sensation Newspaper Advertisement
This is a re-release newspaper ad for the 1918 film, "A Society Sensation." Considering the film is packaged with the 1924 film, "Wild Oranges," my guess is that it is from 1924. It reads, "He Made Love An Art on the Screen," and "Note: This will prove to you that Rudy always was the most dazzling of lovers." Even though the studios were attempting to cash in on his early films where he had bit parts, which they did, this is not a very impressive ad for the film. Almost a second billing ad if you will. Again, these clippings are not extremely rare; but, I find them to be great collectible pieces that are very reasonable to obtain.

The Young Rajah Newspaper Advertisement
This is a newspaper ad for the 1922 film, "The Young Rajah." This ad depicts unique artwork for the film. I find it fascinating to see the price list for the film at the bottom of the ad. Adults 35 cents, Children 15 cents, Adult Matinee 25 cents, Children 10 cents. These are great collectibles and can be found for a reasonable price.

Monsieur Beaucaire Newspaper Advertisement
This is a great example of a newspaper advertisement for the film, "Monsieur Beaucaire." "Last Week of the picture that has taught a nation LOVE." This appears to be an original ad, not a re-issue. These advertisements are not rare; however, they are great collectibles for a scrapbook and are very reasonable for an original item from the 20's. I enjoy collecting these simply due to the different artwork used for these ads. They were often different from any other material out there to promote the movie.

The Sheik Newspaper Advertisement
This is a newspaper ad for the film, "The Sheik." The artwork for this ad is the same as the French paperback book, Le Cheik. This was the film that really launched Valentino into stardom. After this film, the word Sheik had a new meaning in the English language, for something to be very sheik.
These newspaper ads are not extremely valuable, I find them to be a great collectible and also look great framed if of course, you have the wall space again, or more frames for that matter.

The Son of the Sheik Newspaper Ad
This is a newspaper ad for the film, "The Son of the Sheik." Notice this ad does not feature an actual depiction of Valentino. Once Valentino died it was a difficult decision what to do about advertising for the movie, some people felt it was disrespectful to capitalize and market a deceased person. Others wanted to see his image plastered on everything, everywhere.

The Delicious Little Devil Newspaper Ad
This is a newspaper ad for the film, "The Delicious Little Devil." This was a re-release of the film from 1921. The film Flower of the North was released in 1921, which dates this ad. This was when Valentino's popularity really started to take off and studio's began re-releasing his early films that he appeared in as a supporting role or bit part.
