Candid Photos of Valentino

Here are 5 more photos from the Chicago Tribune Archive.  One is a great photo of Valentino sitting in a chair.  The rest are Rudy at trains, two of which are with Natacha and Nita Naldi.  Valentino is sporting his goatee from his European trip where they were in the process of acquiring items for The Hooded Falcon, which of course never came to fruition.  These are just wonderful photos!

Photos of Valentino with Natacha

These are five photos of Valentino with Natacha, many of them you do not see too often. What is even more rare than that, she is actually smiling in a few! The couple were often photographed while out in public. She and Valentino were married from 1923 to 1926.

Photos of Valentino with Natacha

These are five photos of Valentino with Natacha. It is rare to see photos of her smiling, many people think it was a reflection of her personality, which I might have been; but, which was indicative of the time. The first photo is a fantastic photo of Valentino, Natacha, and Alberto. Valentino is sporting his European goatee, I think it is just a fantastic photo.

This photo depicts the sultry Nita Naldi along with the couple. I love Natacha’s facial expression in this photo. To me her face it saying: she not only looks much better than I do; but, she looks better with him than I do!

This is a photo of the couple from the Mineralava tour where they performed the tango from Valentino’s film, The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

This photo was taken as Natacha was leaving him. It is said they put on a show for the camera; but, Valentino was devastated.

The photo from Natacha's book Recollections.

Letters from Alberto Valentino and Natacha Rambova

These are two great letters from Valentino's family members. The first one is from Valentino's brother, Alberto. This letter is a thank you letter to Earl Carlisle for arranging for a plane to fly overhead at the funeral service while dropping rose petals, which is still done today. Albert signed the letter Alberto Guglielmi Valentino. The way he signs Valentino is amazing identical to Rudy's signature.
This is an unknown letter signed by Natacha. I am unsure how she normally signed her name; however, I am very surprised she signed it Natacha Valentino. The first time I heard these names together was when I say the photo of this letter.

More Photos with Natacha

These are five great photos of Valentino with Natacha. The first one is especially rare. It shows them dancing as they did on the Mineralava tour, not in costume.

Rudy, An Intimate Portrait of Rudolph Valentino

This is one of the top three most difficult books to find on Valentino. The other two would be, "How you can keep fit," and the Estate Catalog. This is the hardback edition of Rudy, An Intimate Portait of Rudolph Valentino by Natacha Rambova. This was published in London in 1926 by Hutchinson and Company. My understanding is there was only one printing of this book. Very difficult to find and very expensive. I found this book in Hollywood in 1995 without the dust jacket, back then it was $750. This is one I hope to stumble upon at a flea market or antique mall, if I do you will hear a loud scream that could be heard across three states!

Photos of Valentino with Natacha

These are various photos of Valentino with his wife, Natacha Rambova.

This photo features Rudy, Natacha, and his brother Alberto.

In this photo she is almost smiling, I think it is because she is leaving him. (Obviously not a big fan of her)

This is a rare photo from the Mineralava Dancing Tour, where they danced the tango from The Four Horseman.

This is Rudy and Natacha, with my favorite of Valentino's leading ladies, Nita Naldi. Natacha did not care for her, this makes me like her even more.

Photo of Rudy and Natacha

This is a fantastic photo of Rudy and Natacha. I am not a huge fan of Natacha, I have always had the impression that she wanted to control Rudy more than be his wife. However, they made a great couple together, this a fantastic contemporary photo of the two of them.
