French Magazine Depicting Valentino from 1928

This is a magazine from France, called La Cinematographie Francaise, or French Cinematography.  The magazine is dated 1928, which I find interesting.  Two years after his death, there were no movies to promote, or anything to sell, except magazines.  Two years after his death fans were still buying magazines with his image on the cover.  This particular magazine is not seen too often, nor is the photo of Valentino that was used either.  A very interesting piece.

1923 Valetnino Picturegoer Magazine

This is a wonderful magazine out of the UK called Picturegoer.  The magazine is dated September 1923.  The cover depicts Valentino as his personal spirit guide, Black Feather.  It is not common to see Valentino on the cover of a magazine not depicted from a film or a movie studio photo.  This makes this magazine a very unique item.  I'm sure many fans at the time did not get this photo or was maybe confused that Valentino was going to be an American Indian in an upcoming film.  You have to remember that this was when Valentino was having contract problems with Famous Players-Lasky, it was also when he published Daydreams.  So, at the time he was selling himself instead of a specific film at the time.  This is a great magazine, still looking for this one myself.

1923 Danish Magazine

It's been way too long since I last posted on the blog.  Life tends to be too busy sometimes.  We all have to make time for the things we enjoy.  Ok, enough deep life thoughts, back to the Rudy items.  This is a Danish Movie Magazine from 1923.  I really do not have any further information other than it is an obscure magazine from the 20's.  The photo of Rudy depicts him from The Young Rajah.

1926 Magazine from Belgium

This is another wonderful example of a vintage overseas magazine depicting Valentino on the cover.  The magazine is dated October 1926.  After Valentino's death in August of 1926, he graced the cover of every magazine and newspaper for months after.  This particular magazine depicts an artist's rendition of Valentino from the 1921 film, The Sheik.  I really enjoy these unique covers from outside of The United States.

Mid Week Pictorial Featuring Valentino

This is a magazine/supplement called Mid Week Pictorial, "News of the World in Pictures."  This was published weekly by the New York Times.  Valentino graced the cover of this publication numerous times.  This is a fantastic partial profile pic of Valentino.  This is a unique magazine that would need to be added to any collection.

1926 Moving Picture Stories

This is a great magazine called Moving Picture Stories.  The cover depicts Valentino from the 1926 film, The Son of the Sheik.  This magazine is dated August 3rd 1926, just 20 days before Valentino's death.  This magazine was obviously used to promote The Son of the Sheik.  This is not a common magazine, the photo almost appears to have a colorized look to it.  This is a great magazine.

1926 French Film Review Magazine

This is a French magazine from 1926 dedicated to Valentino. After Valentino's death in August of 1926, he appeared on the cover of virtually every entertainment magazine. With this being said, there are no shortages of magazines from 26 with Valentino on the cover. Some are more desirable that others. Most of the magazines with colorful covers, or depictions of uncommon photos of Valentino tend to be more valuable and sought after. This particular Film Review would most likely not be too valuable; however, would be one more needed for the collection.

Monsieur Beaucaire Picture Show

This is a Picture Show Magazine from the U.K. depicting Valentino and Bebe Daniels on the cover from the 1924 film, Monsieur Beaucaire. Valentino often graced the cover of this magazine. Just as in today's world, top stars on the cover attracts readers and fans to pick up the magazine, read it and buy it. Valentino was no exception, he was featured on thousands of magazine covers over the years. Picture Show magazines with Valentino on the cover, tend to be more desirable than most other Valentino magazines, with the exception of color covers such as Motion Picture or Screenland just to name a few. This is another great example of an original magazine from the 20's featuring Valentino.
