Assortment of Candid Photos of Valentino
I do enjoy the candid photos. I use the word candid loosely, candid photos to me are photos not from his films or non-studio poses. These are five great photos of Valentino outside of both of those arenas. The first one is a rare photo of Valentino and Natacha where Valentino has a mustache. I assume this was just before he grew out the goatee for their 1923 trip. Other photos include Valentino with his dogs, his horse, reading mail and a photo of him in his Four Horsemen gaucho outfit. I believe this photo to be from when he was out on the Mineralava tour where he and Natacha danced the tango in this costume.
Brad these are excellent. I love the asthetic of early photography. the smokey, hazy images that seem to have a life of their own asif the camera is a breathing thing. Just magic, you know?
That is awesome. I have noticed some people on ebay are listing photos as "originals" but appear to be from the 40's or 50's. Furthermore, they are asking a small fortune for them. I am glad you are having some luck picking up some great photos. When I first started collecting in the mid 90's there were quite a few shops on Hollywood Blvd that carried memorabilia. I purchased quite a few photos from them. Unfortunately, over the years they are started to close due to ebay selling all the hard to find Hollywood items. Today, I am unsure if any are left.

I totally agree. I would love to own many of the original photos out there, they seem to be getting more and more difficult to find.
ReplyDeleteI've acquired a few vintage photos recently. Only one was a candid, but I did manage some unusual movie stills. They are divine.
