This is a Movie Herald from the film, "Blood and Sand." This has a great colorful cover; however, the inside scenes are in black and white. The cover on this herald alone makes it a desirable piece.

A visual and informative reference guide to Rudolph Valentino collectible items.
Just got this. I've had some good luck with the heralds lately...
ReplyDeleteI saw one on ebay I was going to tell you about. It looks like you saw it! Congratulations! I feel that these heralds are so under appreciated. Most of these are fantastic original items with colorful movie art.
ReplyDeleteI know! I couldn't believe it was at such a low buy- it -now with free shipping and nobody snagged it. Lucky for me, because I also love these. They are vintage and from the time of the original release of the picture, plus they have some very cool artwork. I'm glad they are still inexpensive. Do you have any heralds from Four Horsemen?
ReplyDeleteI mean US heralds..
ReplyDeleteAbout 10 years ago you could not touch heralds for less than $50, the average price being $75 to $80, so it is strange that people are selling them so cheap. So, I say buy, buy, buy! I do not own The Four Horsemen; however, there is one out there. I have a black and white photo of it, I have just never posted it. Hopefully we will find that one with the Cobra Lobby Card!
ReplyDeleteIt is listed on ebay right now, for $50. It's re-listed at least once. It has 16 days to go. I just happened upon it, because it's listed as Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and it doesn't come up when you search "Rudolph Valentino". It's all black and white. There is also a Spanish Son of the Sheik that's nice and colorful, but that one is $75. Also, doesn't come up under RV. I want them both, but I'm used to getting 'em for under $20. I should stop being cheap, huh?
ReplyDeleteVery interesting. To begin with I was unsure The Four Horsemen was actually in black and white, I thought it was the photo I had saved. The Son of the Sheik one listed, appears to be a bit more modern than 1926. It appears to me to be possibly from a re-release. I think both are a bit on the high end. You may want to wait to see if they take them down a bit in price.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I was thinking that since it's listed at least twice already, maybe they will put a sale price on it before it ends. The Four Horsemen is the one I'd really like.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if there is a colorized version of The Four Horsemen out there? It is weird that they would produce a black and white herald.
ReplyDeleteI agree. You'd think they would have produced a flashier herald for such a big budget and highly promoted film.
ReplyDeleteI have to believe there are a few variations out there somewhere.
